Hong Kong police seized the largest shipment of drugs this year
The largest shipment of drugs this year with a total weight of 178 kg was seized by the Hong Kong police. This was reported on August 31 by The Standard. Narcotic substances, including methamphetamine, ketamine and 82 kg of heroin, were found in a warehouse in mainland Hong Kong. The entire batch of substances prohibited for distribution was packed in bottles from under fruit juices and packed in cardboard boxes. The total cost of confiscated drugs amounted to about $22 million. Law enforcement officials suggest that the cargo was transiting through Hong Kong in transit to a third country. In this case, two suspects, immigrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan, were detained. Through them, the police hope to enter the entire chain of criminals involved in the dispatch and delivery of narcotic substances. It is noted that since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the price of narcotic substances has increased markedly, and international criminal groups began to send prohibited substances in large batches, trying to hide them among legal cargo. Earlier, the news agency reported the capture in southwestern China of three suspected drug traffickers who seized 30 kg of heroin.
